Novita Capital co-founded, project managed and invested in Veragua Rainforest, a research and adventure park aimed to become the best rainforest attraction in the Caribbean. The firm raised over $7 million for the project with a creative combination of common and preferred equity from prominent local investors and financing from BCT, a local bank, as well as the renowned Conservation International and The Nature Conservancy. To strengthen the project’s efforts in education, scientific research, and sustainability, a one-of-a-kind cooperation agreement was established with the National Institute of Biodiversity (INBio), for the design and interpretation of the park’s nature exhibitions and operation of the research center. The park was inaugurated by the President in July 2008 and serves local and international tourists, including all major cruise lines serving the Caribbean routes. Novita Capital is developing Verdeza, the premier Continuing Care Retirement Community in Costa Rica targeted at local and foreign residents who value Costa Rica as a retirement paradise. The first site is strategically located to the West of San José, the capital city. The firm has orchestrated an unparalleled development and operating team with vast experience in the design, senior care, and hospitality management along with the best medical team. After two years of careful site selection, market analysis and team building, this $20M project is in final permits and close to completing the equity capital raising. Given the real estate market crunch, Novita Capital has designed a membership structure that is appealing to potential residents who seek a fully serviced residential community that can be paid piecemeal. Novita will have first mover advantage on a highly needed service that is not currently offered. Membership pre sales began in January 2009, and construction is expected to begin towards the end of 2009. For more information visit www.verdeza.com |
